Welcome to the Motivation and Identity Lab!
The lab studies questions such as:
How do our identities influence the goals we pursue?
How can we best support marginalized students' success in STEM?
Why do we perceive others differently based on their social identities?
I am currently recruiting research assistants for the Spring 2025 semester. If you are interested in joining the lab, please complete an application below.
Research assistants will:
Gain firsthand experience with all stages of the research process
Collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data
Read journal articles in social psychology and related fields
Join fun lab meetings! (Coffee and snacks included)
Research assistants are eligible to receive course credit for their participation in the lab. Students within the lab are also eligible to complete independent research studies and honor theses. Research assistants are expected to dedicate between three and nine hours a week to lab work.
Some current projects that require immediate work include:
Designing purpose reflection interventions in STEM classrooms
Assessing stereotypes of and attributions for social mobility
Understanding multiple goal pursuit strategies
Measuring stereotypes of working-class occupations and peoples
Applying social psychological and motivation science to college advising
